What can you expect from me?

I am 22 years old and the youngest candidate running for City Council this year. I graduated this June from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science (High Distinction) and a specialist in Neuroscience. I do not come from a prestigious and money-filled background, and I do not have a family in politics. I am starting from the ground up, although I do have experience running in the provincial elections. This June, I ran with the Green Party of Ontario as an MPP Candidate for Scarborough Centre. Regardless, many people told me to withdraw from this year’s municipal race due to me being (1) young, (2) a woman, and (3) lacking endorsements from powerful political figures from Brampton. All of this was very discouraging at first, but I am confident that I have the skills and experiences to be a strong City Councillor for Wards 7 & 8, despite my age and so-called “weaknesses.” What I need is support from my people, and it is about time that City Council starts fresh with new blood.
